Avana online
Avanafil, sold under the brand name Avana among others, is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It is a PDE5 inhibitor. It was approved for medical use in the United States in 2012. It is available as a generic medication.
Uses
Avanafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It increases blood flow to the penis to help men get and keep an erection. Avanafil does not cure ED or increase sexual desire. Avanafil does not prevent pregnancy or the spread of sexually transmitted diseases such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Side effects
Headache, flushing, stuffy nose, muscle pain, back pain, stomach upset, and dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Avanafil may cause a condition that affects the heart rhythm (QT prolongation). QT prolongation can infrequently result in serious (rarely fatal) fast/irregular heartbeat and other symptoms (such as severe dizziness, fainting) that need medical attention right away.
The risk of QT prolongation may be increased if you have certain medical conditions or are taking other drugs that may cause QT prolongation. Before using avanafil, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all the drugs you take and if you have any of the following conditions:
- certain heart problems (heart failure, slow heartbeat, QT prolongation in the EKG), family history of certain heart problems (QT prolongation in the EKG, sudden cardiac death)
- low levels of potassium or magnesium in the blood
- a history of Long QT syndrome
- an abnormal EKG (electrocardiogram)
- a family history of Long QT syndrome
- concurrent use of other medication that prolong the QT interval (such as certain antipsychotics, certain antibiotics, quinidine, procainamide, mefloquine, and some antiarrhythmics)
This drug may make you dizzy or cause vision problems. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness or clear vision until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Limit alcoholic beverages.
Avanafil can decrease blood flow to the optic nerve of the eye, causing sudden vision loss. This has occurred in a small number of people, most of whom also had heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or certain pre-existing eye problems, and in those who smoked or were over 50 years old.
It is not known if avanafil is the actual cause of vision loss. Stop using avanafil and get emergency medical help if you have sudden vision loss.
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of:
- heart problems (such as heart failure, irregular heartbeat, aortic stenosis, angina),
- history of heart attack or stroke,
- low blood pressure,
- high blood pressure,
- a certain eye problem (naion),
- bleeding disorders,
- blood cell problems (such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia),
- physical deformity of the penis (such as Peyronie's disease), or
- history of vision loss.
This drug may make you dizzy or cause vision problems. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness or clear vision until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Limit alcoholic beverages.
To make sure avanafil is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had:
- pulmonary hypertension;
- a heart valve disorder or heart rhythm disorder;
- coronary artery disease (clogged arteries);
- a heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure;
- high or low blood pressure;
- a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia;
- a blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia; or
- if you have been told you should not have sexual intercourse for health reasons.
