Side Effects
Brand Levitra can cause serious side effects. Tell your doctor if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
- sudden vision loss;
- ringing in your ears, or sudden hearing loss;
- chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;
- irregular heartbeat;
- swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet;
- shortness of breath;
- vision changes;
- feeling light-headed, fainting; or
- penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer.
Less serious side effects may include:
- warmth or redness in your face, neck, or chest;
- stuffy nose;
- headache;
- upset stomach; or
- back pain.

Brand Levitra and Alcohol
You should avoid drinking alcohol while taking Brand Levitra. Drinking alcohol can increase certain side effects of Brand Levitra.
Brand Levitra and Other Interactions
Brand Levitra can interact with other medications, vitamins, or herbs you may be taking. An interaction is when a substance changes the way a drug works. This can be harmful or prevent the drug from working well.

Examples of drugs that can cause interactions with Brand Levitra are listed below.
- Alpha blockers. These include tamsulosin (Flomax), terazosin (Hytrin), and doxazosin (Cardura). Taking Brand Levitra with an alpha blocker can lower your blood pressure. Your doctor may start you on a lowered dosage of Brand Levitra.
- Azole antifungals. These include ketoconazole (Nizoral) and itraconazole (Sporanox). Taking Brand Levitra with certain azole antifungals can decrease the levels of Brand Levitra in your blood. This could lead to lower effectiveness.
- HIV protease inhibitors. These include ritonavir (Norvir), indinavir (Crixivan), saquinavir (Fortovase), and lopinavir/ritonavir (Kaletra). Taking Brand Levitra with certain HIV protease inhibitors can decrease the levels of Brand Levitra in your blood. This could lead to lower effectiveness.
- Rifamycins. These include rifampin (Rifadin), rifabutin (Mycobutin), and rifapentine (Priftin). Taking Brand Levitra with certain rifamycins can decrease the levels of Brand Levitra in your blood. This could lead to lower effectiveness.
- St. John's wort. Taking Brand Levitra with St. John's wort can decrease the levels of Brand Levitra in your blood.
Brand Levitra and Pregnancy
Brand Levitra is a category B pregnancy drug. That means two things:
- Research in animals has shown no adverse effects to the fetus when the mother takes the drug.
- There are no adequate studies in pregnant humans, and no animal studies have been conducted on pregnant women to assess the potential risk to the fetus.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
